Through the vibrational emanations of sound, the work spatialize the invisible latency of plants, which comes from their symbiotic relationships and ancestral technologies of multi-existence, going beyond the condition of the individual.
As the exhibition is part of Sumida EXPO, a festival based on Sumida neighborhood (Tokyo-JP), the work was created from weeds with medicinal properties found in the surroundings of the festival's area - adiantum capillus-veneris, rosa chinensis e phyllanthus tenellus.
Using a pre-colonial South American technique, the medicinal substances of three herbs were extracted, making the leafs become completely transparent. These three different substances were transformed into sounds. Using the artists music theory developed in collaboration with the musician Tatsuro Murakami, codes representing photosynthesis, color, and associated minerals of each plant were decoded into a sequence of music notes, composing three different tracks. A fourth sound layer is added to that by transforming the word “coexist” into a sound.
